Philosophy
Hockey is a balancing act.
Just to stand up on 2 blades across ice requires balance. But hockey also requires balance in the lives of the athletes and families who enable the sport to take place.
Max Rosenthal Coaching works to help balance hockey with relationships, creativity, justice, and individual life goals. Hockey (goaltending in particular) draws on many more skills than we like to admit. Yes, it takes core strength, quick reactions, flexibility, and butterflies. But it also requires empathy, openness, clear communication, and strong morals.
Becoming a great goalie means you have gained a dynamic sense of who you are, how you relate to the world, and what you want to do in it. Max Rosenthal Coaching is honored to be part of how you find your balance.
Background
Max has been coaching since 2017 after goaltending with AAA, high school prep, ACHA D1, and NCAA D1 programs in Buffalo and Pittsburgh. Now in California, he serves as practice goalie for the San Jose Sharks (NHL) and Barracuda (AHL).
Following his time as Hockey Outreach & Inclusion Coordinator with the San Jose Sharks, he leads goaltending development with the San Jose Jr. Sharks, Santa Clara Valley Hockey Association, Thomas Speer's Pacific Coast Goaltending, Cathy Andrade's Power Skating, and Rachel Llanes' TPR Hockey Training.

You can find Max behind the bench for 16AAA Girls/14AA Girls Jr. Sharks teams and as head coach/coordinator for the One Step Sharks special hockey program.

Max uses his graduate training in social work plus years of experience consulting and coaching to create the ideal hockey experience for players of all ages and skill levels.
